The primary ingredients in Toplap Gel are Lidocaine and Prilocaine, both local amide-type anesthetics that are utilized to numb the skin in the area where the gel is applied.
Toplap Gel is indicated for: alleviating pain related to injections; reducing discomfort during blood sampling (collecting blood from a vein) for medical tests; easing pain during minor surgical procedures (such as the removal of genital warts); and mitigating pain associated with the cleansing or removal of damaged skin from leg ulcers.
Lidocaine and Prilocaine act as local anesthetics, providing analgesic effects. They work by stabilizing neuronal membranes and delivering local anesthesia through the inhibition of ionic fluxes necessary for the generation and transmission of pain signals to the brain.
One gram of the gel dispensed from the tube measures approximately 3.5 cm. For skin prior to minor procedures (such as needle insertion or small skin surgeries): Adults and adolescents aged over 12 years typically require a dose of 2 g. The gel should be applied at least 1 hour before the procedure (unless used on the genital area). It should not be applied more than 5 hours in advance.
Infants aged 0-2 months may use up to 1 g of gel on a skin area not exceeding 10 cm², applied 1 hour before the procedure. This is a single dose for a 24-hour period. Infants aged 3-11 months can use up to 2 g of gel on a total skin area not larger than 20 cm², applied 1 hour (maximum 4 hours) before the procedure. Two doses separated by a 12-hour interval can be administered within any 24-hour period.
For children aged 1-5 years, a maximum of 10 g of gel may be applied to a total skin area not larger than 100 cm², 1 hour (maximum 5 hours) prior to the procedure. Children aged 6-11 years can use up to 20 g of gel on a total skin area not exceeding 200 cm², 1 hour (maximum 5 hours) before the procedure.
For skin prior to the removal of wart-like spots known as “mollusca,” the appropriate dosage varies based on the child’s age and is applied for 30 to 60 minutes (30 minutes if the patient has atopic dermatitis). Please consult your doctor or pharmacist regarding the correct amount of gel to use.
For genital skin before local anesthetic injections, only for individuals over 12 years of age: a typical dose is 1 g of gel (1-2 g for female genital skin) for each area of skin measuring 10 cm². The gel should be applied under a dressing for 15 minutes on male genital skin and for 60 minutes on female genital skin.
For the genitals before minor skin surgery (such as wart removal), only for those over 12 years: the usual dose is 5-10 g of gel applied for 10 minutes without dressing, after which the procedure should commence immediately.
For leg ulcers prior to cleansing or removal of damaged skin, only under a doctor's oversight for adults: the typical dose is 1-2 g of gel for each area of skin measuring 10 cm², up to a maximum of 10 g. The gel should be covered with an airtight dressing, such as plastic wrap, for 30-60 minutes prior to cleaning the ulcer.
Toplap Gel should not be applied to areas with rashes, cuts, scrapes, or any other open wounds (except for leg ulcers), near the eyes, inside the nose, ear, or mouth, in the anal area, or on the genitals of children. The gel should be used on the genitals and leg ulcers under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
For children under 2 years, consult your pharmacist. If you are uncertain about measuring the correct amounts to apply, consult your pharmacist.
Refrain from exposing the treated area to extreme heat or cold (such as food or drink) until full sensation returns.
Prevent Toplap Gel from coming into contact with the eyes, as numbness can hinder your ability to notice if something enters your eye. If Toplap Gel inadvertently gets into your eye, rinse with lukewarm water or saline solution immediately.
Toplap Gel is intended for use as needed, which means missed doses are not a concern. Adhere to the doctor's advised dosage and do not apply double doses. If an overdose occurs and you feel unwell, seek emergency medical assistance or contact your healthcare provider right away.
Store at room temperature, not exceeding 30 degrees C (86 degrees F), and keep away from excess moisture and heat. Do not freeze. Dispose of any unused medication after the expiration date. Keep out of reach of children.
